Along with the curriculum, the service of teachers is also available in extra-curricular projects like sports, music, dance, tailoring etc. This school, which imparted education to all the children of this area, has been able to mould many eminent people. Educationally, this school is behind the development of Puthenthope region.Alumni here have been able to prove their proficiency in arts, sports and professional fields.Even today alumni share fond memories of this school.
This school, which was functioning with three divisions in each standard, has become uneconomic since 2013 due to the encroachment of English medium schools.
In 2019 the school began to make progress as a result of a lot of work done by teachers, management and parishioners,to meet this challenge. From 2019, English medium classes are also being conducted in this school.5 teachers and one office attendant are working in this school, which is based in Kaniyapuram Sub-District in Thiruvananthapuram Education District. After the increase in special classes, classes with emphasis on arts and sports, education and academic excellence, this school is now in the path of excellence. But the physical condition of the school and the absence of a compound wall around the school are causing concern among parents. This is seriously affecting admissions.
Students here participate in sub-district level arts festivals and sports meets and win Prizes and Grades. A good PTA is working here. Together with PTA, teachers and students, the school has been able to establish a herb garden and a vegetable garden. Jaihind Library allows to use their ground to give practice to children once in a week as a part of nurturing sports.
Under the management of RC Schools Vellayam balam, the school in Puthenthope Parish has maintained its splendour even today.
