Vision:
A diocesan community with a sense of identity and a sense of history is a mission.
Mission:
Recreate a community with a sense of identity by understanding the history, culture and tradition of the Latin Archdiocese of Thiruvananthapuram.
OBJECTIVES:
Write a comprehensive and objective history of the Latin Archdiocese of Thiruvananthapuram. Create a generation with a sense of pride in history and tradition.
Established in 1987, the Archdiocese of Thiruvananthapuram has a rich history. Our Christian faith was formed by the apostolic spirit and zealous evangelization of our Archdiocese Francis Xavier, blessed by the touch of the feet of St. Francis Xavier, and the Jesuit-Carmelite missionaries. The martyrdom of the blessed God Helper Pillai is the crowning example of our Christian testimony. We have not been able to highlight the long history and unique culture and tradition of our diocese and pass it on to the new generation.
Every church and parish are a monument that tells the story of sacrifice and faith of our forefathers. We must know their history; should be recorded. Just as a plant cannot grow without roots, a generation without a sense of history cannot make development possible. We must stand in history to grow our community. With this great awareness, we should be able to pass on our history and heritage to the younger generation. It is for this purpose that the Archdiocese formed the Heritage Commission.
