As the realization that education is the basic factor for the development of the individual and the society became stronger among the people of Thiruvananthapuram Archdiocese, the number of schools also increased. Today, the future dreams of hundreds of students are blossoming through 97 schools, large and small, in the archdiocese. Apart from 28 schools in corporate management, 2 schools under the direct control of the archdiocese, 19 schools in parish management, 25 schools run by religious congregations, and 4 schools run by individual trusts and in connection with higher education, engineering college under archdiocese Teacher Training Institute, B. Ed. College, Nursing School, 3 colleges run by nuns, and one college under the leadership of priests are working for the educational progress of the archdiocesan community.
It is particularly noteworthy that the Archdiocese has already been able to implement most of the decisions taken at the 1987 settlement. According to it, the Board of Education has been formed to coordinate the activities of educational institutions under the auspices of the Diocese and to assume joint responsibility. Donations of any kind are not accepted in connection with teacher appointments or student admission. The seniority list of the candidates is prepared and published and the teacher appointments are made only based on it. The work to improve the external facilities of the schools is carried out regularly every year. For higher education, Vedic Colleges, Polytechnics, Industrial Schools, Technical Institutes, and Teacher Training Colleges have already been implemented.
A comprehensive Education Policy document was prepared and published in 2009 to provide clear guidelines and operational policies for educational activities in the Archdiocese. History of education till date, vision of education, operational emphasis, suggestions for improvement of physical conditions and infrastructure, ensuring active participation of parents, appointment of teachers and non-teachers. The policy document covers many issues such as enhancing teacher excellence.
Until 1998, the education ministry, which was geared towards school-centered activities and the teachers' guild, has been able to achieve significant progress in the field of education by organizing various programs in the last ten years. Now 120 Parish Education Councils including Parish Substation are functioning. Animators' service is ensured in all 8 Feronas. A motivation program for children, teacher training, and awareness classes for parents are conducted to improve the quality of education in schools. Along with this, the formation of the Parochial Ferona Diocesan Education Committee, preparation of annual plan and budget, assisting economically disadvantaged children, medical coaching for academically disadvantaged children, encouragement of meritorious children, education the celebration, training to participate in artistic competitions, free uniforms, and study materials. Giving, finding the aptitude of children, giving importance to pre-primary education, professional education, entrance coaching programs, and many more.
As a result of the leadership of the Ministry of Education, significant achievements have been achieved in the field of education. Greater emphasis on the higher education sector has led to higher educational outcomes, increased scholarship and merit awards, and a
significant increase in the number of people going to higher education. During this period initiatives were taken to improve the physical facilities of the schools. In addition to trying to improve formal education, informal further education programs were also spearheaded to increase the literacy rate.

The plans formulated for the next ten years.
- 1. Promote higher education for better careers while making public education more relevant.
- 2. Prioritize the activities to be implemented in the next five years using the statistics collected on a scientific basis.
- 3. Eradication of illiteracy among school students.
- 4. Improve the physical environment of schools to attract students.
- 5. Make schools student-funded.
- 6. Eliminate dropouts after class 10 and make basic education up to Plus Two available to all.
- 7. To prepare children to gain employment and access to professional education by encouraging the arts.
- 8. To introduce subsidized services for higher education, the education ministry gives priority to mainstreaming society by molding good citizens with workability and values of life.
