About the school
St.Thomas UP School is a mixed - aided management school started in 1955 by the Trivandrum Latin Diocese . The school was shifted from Ayiroor to the present building in Hariharapuram on June 4th ,1956.The school was regarded as a prestigious one,situated in the Thiruvananthapuram district, Varkala Taluk, Elakamom Panchayat ,Hariharapuram ward -16, besides the beautiful highland of Harihara puram lake which is a part of Edava lake.
Since the school was a prestigious one, the parents were eager to send their children to this school even from distant places.The first student of this school was Mr.V.R.Lean, a retired teacher and the first Headmistress was Mrs.O. Gomathy. Professor A. Sathyaseelan, the retired Principal of Government Law College Kozhikode,retired ADGP Mr. Hemachandran IPS, Dr.Ferdinand D' Cruz, the Pediatrician of Government Hospital, Mr. Douglas, a stump artist etc are some well known alumni of this school.
