About the school
In the 17 century, when the capital was shifted from Sripadmanabhapuram to Thiruvananthapuram, the king of that day established an educational institution called Idayal Kudipallikkudam at Shanghumughom and our present day school to prepare the writing paper needed for the royal palace. Chronologically, on May 22, 1917, due to the tireless efforts of Rev. Fr.Sebastian Presentation, the old Kudipallikkudam was displaced and it became Shanghumughom St.Peter's LPS. It became our present parish school
In the social situation of that time, only 75% people attended school for primary education. All of them were taught in this school. How proud those good old days were!
The teaching excellence of Mr. Velupilla Sir and Mrs. Martha Gomez, a native of Kannanthura,who was appointed as teachers in this school in1936, and the friendship and help that touched the hearts of the students, still remain in the memory of the previous generations. Irungumavu served to the students for lunch on that days was quite an impressive and nutritious lunch.
Many students who have passed through this school have played a part in the progress of mankind and the events that have occurred in the midst of that effort. All the teachers who have enabled and encouraged them to do so are gratefully remembered. Since 1956, this school has been functioning as an aided school. Now Smt.Genevieve D'silva is working as the 12th Headmistress of this school. Physical facilities The school is situated on 57 cents of land. The school building, which was constructed on the occasion of the centenary of the school on 27th December 2017, has 11 classrooms on two floors and a spacious play area.
Eleven classrooms were converted into high tech classrooms Working with the objective of providing better primary education to the children of the common people, the school focuses on the excellent academic standards of the students. This school is located in North Sub - district,Thiruvananthapuram. It is an institution under the RC school management Vellayambalam, The patron of the school is most Rev. Dr. Thomas J Netto. Rev. Dr. Daisan Yesudas is at the helm of the schools as the corporate manager.
