St. Anne’s LPS, Pettah
About the school
At the time of Dharma Raja Karthika Thirunnal Ramavarma, who was the Maharaja of Travancore,Ezhupunnakkaran Thachin Mathew Tharakan built a church for him and his followers on the land gifted by the Maharaja without land tax.
In 1888 the Latins took the great Mission of "Palliyodoppam Pallikkoodam" thus a school with the church was established. It was named as St.Anne's LPS. People from the neighbouring areas like Pattoor, Kannammoola , Chennilodu ,Venpalavattom, Anayara, Chakai, Karikkakom,Perunthanni etc.. depend this school for education.
The main motto of the school was free education for the poor pupils from the surrounding areas. At the beginning there were classes from 1 to 5. Then as a part of radical changes occured in the education field it was established with primary classes from Std 1 to 4.
At first the school was operating in the shift system. All classes had 2 divisions each. But now each class has one division. At present we have primary and pre primary sections with 6 classes. There are 6 teachers and 2 non teachers working here.
