School Background Paruthiyoor a fishermen village i n Neyyattinkara Taluk which belongs to Thiruvana nthapuram district in Kerala. St.Mary's LPS is situated in Paruthiyoor to the midst of Arabian Sea and Ananda Victorian Marthandan Canal. As this is a fishermen village most of the children are the children of fishermen.
Paruthiyoor is an economically and educationally very backward village. The one and only livelihood is fishing. A small number of children were capable of going to school as there is no near by schools. Through the insight and foresight of a group of well wishers expressed their ideas for the importance of a school for their own community.After the prolonged discussion and meetings with Parish, they planned to build a school in an area of 50 cents, near St. Mary Magdaline Church.With the help of the Parish got Govt.sanction for establishing a school. By the blood and sweat of poor fishermen the constructions started.Thus fulfilled the dream of a double storeyed building with a cooking shed.
All children from this village joined and studied in this school.After Primary education, children in this village went for higher studies and entered into different govt.Services as well as in Private sectors.Teachers, Nurses, Soldiers, Lawyers, Police, Priests,Software Engineers are examples for our childrens’ Achievements.Now a days a numbers of children got MBBS admission in different medical colleges in Kerala as well as in abroad.Economical status progressed Many settled and got jobs in different foreign countries Many children were selected to different Football/Cricket teams in Kerala.Totally speaking the complexion of Paruthiyoor Village got dimentional changes after the establishment of St. Mary's LPS Paruthiyoor.
