About the school
Holy cross LPS is a historical school situated near Holy Cross Church Muttada in Thiruvananthapuram which receives all the riches and blessings of Lord. This institution is run by the R C schools corporate management, Trivandrum under the jurisdiction of Most Rev. Dr. Thomas J Netto,Metropolitan Archbishop of Trivandrum Arch diocese. The school which preserves the ancient culture, was established 108 years ago in 1916 as a private management school. The initial name of the school was LP Nalanchira Sri Vellupilla sir was the first HM of this school.
When the school building at Paruthippara Junction collapsed around 1940, the European priests were serving the Muttada Parish. The local Manager Fr. Iranius who was a Priest from Belgium built the present school at the cost of Rs. 8000 at that time. We now use that building as a hall.
Permission was granted to re-locate the school to a building near the Holy Cross Chruch.During this time school was renamed as Holy Cross LPS, Paruthipara.
Honourable Fr. Iranius who served here for 20 years is known as the Father of the School. His loving approach, financial support and sponsorship inspired the children to come to this school. This school was a lot to him.
Under the leadership of Fr. Thomas and Fr.Paul Pazhangattu, who were the Managers, this school became independent and has completed the construction of multi storeyed building that we are using today.
June 1st 2021, Mrs. Reeta J, the current Headmistress took the charge. And the staff include 4 teachers (including the Headmistress) 2 Preprimary teachers, 1 Ayah and 1 cooking staff.
This institution had classes I to IV with 3 divisions each from the initial stage of this Institution. The school celebrated its centenary in 2016-2017.Former students from this institution is serving on various sectors like Doctors, Engineers,Police, Advocates, Teachers, Government Officials,writers etc.
The famous artist Sri. Satyan Sir is also a former teacher of this school.
s t On 21 May 2022, we held in the inaguration of the new building which includes kitchen cum store area with the support of the government and RC Schools Management. Inauguration was done by the AEO Smt. Jinabala.
We facilitated the smart classes for all the classes from LKG till IV with the contribution and support from Federal Bank Muttada. They contributed Smart TVs for all classes Government contributed the projectors and the local management contributed all the running expenses to facilitate the class rooms.
