About the school

The Portuguese missionaries established a school along with the church at St.Peter's Parish in Anchuthengu which is having a Christian tradition of more than five centuries. It had neither approval nor any rules and regulations. Christian Gospels,Malayalam, English and Mathematics were taught there. An English lower secondary school was established when the British took control over the Anchuthengu factory and fort. Later, the school was closed by the British due to the rift between the British and the residents of Anchuthengu. In 1893,an English primary school was started with the permission of the government at the initiative of Pappu Asan, Kuttimaraykkar, Oorakath Keshavan,M R Neelakandan Asan and Vayalil Achyuthan of Anchuthengu and its surroundings. The legal authority was given to the parish vicar of Anchuthengu.

The school started functioning in the parish yard. Gradually the control of that school was vested in the parish vicar. Anchuthengu School has grown into a prestigious school in Chirayinkeezhu Taluk. The school has become a refuge for the students of nearby areas like Nedunganda,Kayikkara, Kadakkavoor and Vakkom. The famous personalities like Judge M. Govindan,Bheshkar K.
